Certification industry events in Northern Ireland

IMS International, a leading UKAS accredited certification body, has kick-started its series of certification industry events in Northern Ireland specifically for local consultants, businesses, clients, and trade organisations, at the Merchant Hotel in Belfast on 14th June 2017.

The private event, held at the lavish open top roof garden, offered guests the opportunity to meet certification experts face-to-face and have open conversation about the various changes to standards, new certification schemes and regulatory changes in the industry that could impact their business.

Graham O’Geran, business development director at IMS International said; “IMS has a long and successful history with NI Industry spanning decades so this series of certification industry events in Northern Ireland is an opportunity to bring everyone together to enable important knowledge transfer between the auditors, consultants, clients and trade bodies to ultimately build stronger working relationships.”

There is increasing pressure on the International certification industry for businesses to transfer from ISO 9001: 2008 Quality Management Systems to the 2015 version of the standard by September 2018. Many other standards are also impacted by the changes to ISO 9001 due to it being a core standard such ISO 14001: 2015 Environment Management Quality Systems and Aerospace AS 9100 revision D.

Graham explained; “While generally viewed as a positive revision bringing many benefits to QMS in response to technological advancements and global supply chains, it’s major changes and additions have caused some confusion among organisations transferring from the 2008 version of the standard. As a result, only a small number have made the transition to date. This is one of the key themes our experts have discussed at the event; the deadline is strict and organisations are at risk of losing their certifications if they don’t act soon.”

IMS is now evaluating all the discussions with its team and will be providing follow up meetings and transition training sessions for businesses on request.
