IMS International granted acceptance in IECQ HSPM QC080000 scheme

IECQ HSPM QC080000 Compliance to hazardous substances regulations

IMS International, a leading global certification body, has been granted a certificate of acceptance to participate in the IEC Quality System for Electronic Components (IECQ) Hazardous Substance Process Management (HSPM) certification scheme. As an IECQ certification body, IMS can now provide organisations with certification to IECQ HSPM QC080000.

The international specification IECQ HSPM QC080000 takes the basic management system requirements of ISO 9001 and applies processes to identify, control, quantify and report the amount of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products and components products to satisfy customer requirements and legislative compliance.

Michael Venner, chief executive officer at IMS International said: “When specifiers are sourcing electronic components they need to ensure the products are of the highest quality and reliability for their intended use. We can help our clients gain IECQ HSPM to provide their customers with the assurance that their products comply with relevant standards and technical specifications as well as offering a valuable supply chain management and control system. It also ensures the products are meeting the relevant health and safety and environmental legislation.”

The QC080000 specification can be easily integrated into any existing quality management system (QMS).

“The standard is about restricting hazardous substances in products so although it primarily affects the electronic components industry, it also covers manufacturing of all kinds, in particular anything with an electronic component,” advised Mr Venner.
