NGA Marine Services Limited, located in Cameroon and serving the Central and West African marine sectors, has achieved certification to three major international management standards ISO 9001:2015 (quality), ISO 14001:2015 (environmental) and OHSAS 18001:2007 (occupational health and safety). Following a series of comprehensive certification audits conducted by global certification body IMS International, NGA Marine Services demonstrated its fulfilment to meet the strict International Standardization Organization (ISO) criteria to the highest level of quality and service.
Providing all levels of maritime support management services to World class companies in the oil and gas industry, ordinary port, supply chain and shipping industry operations, it is imperative for NGA Marine Services to prove that its operational management and monitoring capabilities across the QHSE (Quality, Health and Safety, Environmental) spectrum is best in class.
Gregory Alem, Chief Operating Officer at NGA Marine Services Ltd explains; “The certification has demonstrated that all key aspects of our marine service business has specific procedures in place to evaluate and improve our company’s QHSE management processes. This ensures that our customers continue to receive unparalleled maritime service management support, while keeping pace with on-time placement standards for our staffing management services, which is deeply engrained in our culture.”
NGA Marine top management involvement
While each certification has specific requirements that a company must comply to, all management systems audits require verification of the involvement and accountability of top management, in-depth stakeholder analysis, an emphasis on performance monitoring and measuring, risk prevention and mitigation, and compliance to local laws and regulations.
Graham O’Geran, Global Business Development Director at IMS International said: “As our operations grow in the African continent, we are delighted to be working with NGA Marine Services, an organisation that clearly prides itself on its reputation; the quality of its services, the safety of its people and equally important the impact they have on the environment.”
To maintain each certification, NGA Marine Services will have regular audits to ensure compliance and to assess initiatives for continued improvement.
Gregory Alem adds, “We are the first company in West Africa to achieve three ISO certifications in one certification audit process. I am so proud of our entire staff for achieving this tremendous honour. We have observed transformations in enthusiasm, team building and intra-departmental collaboration, but most importantly we have received a warm welcome by the market following our successful accreditation which has been most gratifying. We look forward to growing our business rooted firmly in a quality culture enabled by these standards.”
