AS9100:2016 and AS9120:2016 Deadlines and Transition requirements
Deadline for transition to new revisions of AS9100:2016 and AS9120:2016 remains at 15th September 2018 and no audits are to be performed to old revisions after the 15th June 2017. Therefore, organisations have a very short window to complete their transition and should plan to have this completed during their next scheduled assessment after June 2017.
AQMS certifications that have not completed transition to EN/AS 9000:2016 standard by 15th September 2018, including transitioned AQMS certificate uploaded and published into the OASIS database will no longer be valid and shall have a certification status of ‘expired’. They will also no longer be eligible for transition and an initial certification audit will be required to establish conformance with the 2016 editions.
Transition Actions to take
As previously communicated, organisations currently certified to an aerospace standard are required to communicate with IMS International to establish a commitment date for EN/AS9100:2016 and EN/AS9120:2016 AQMS standard transition readiness. This has to be completed no later than the 1st March 2017.
All Certification Bodies, including IMS will need to add additional time to your next scheduled assessment in order to fully audit the changes as well as the current requirements, the amount of time to be added depends on a number of factors including the type of visit, the current system performance and the size of the organisation. A contract review and quote for the transition shall be issued to each organisation after submission of your commitment letter which will highlight the time required.
On the IMS website there are presentations from the IAQG which highlights some of the key changes to AS9100:2016 & AS9120:2016. We recommend your perusal as it contains some very useful information that will help you to start your transition implementation.
If you have any questions in the meantime please do not hesitate to contact IMS Head Office.
